2022 Mary Keith Duff Scholarship Recipients Announced

June 22, 2022

Vacaville, CA – Travis Credit Union (TCU) has awarded 20 local high school students $2,000 scholarships as part of the Mary Keith Duff Memorial Scholarship program. TCU provides these annual scholarships to deserving young members to help them cope with the rising costs of higher education and to reinforce the credit union’s commitment to the financial wellness of future community leaders.

Along with the $2,000 award, scholarship recipients received a $175 gift card to celebrate the exciting news with their family. TCU board members and executive leadership coordinated live Zoom sessions with the winners and their families to announce their awards.

To date, Travis Credit Union has awarded $497,000 in scholarships over the past 18 years, assisting hundreds of students in their educational pursuits. To qualify, students must be college-bound high school seniors, have a GPA of at least 3.0 and submit a 500-word original essay on their future. The applications are evaluated on strength of essay, grades, test scores, financial needs, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.

“These scholarship recipients have tremendous potential. Despite the difficulties that many of them faced over the last two years as a result of the pandemic and the transition to virtual learning, they continued to thrive,” said Kevin Miller, President, and CEO of Travis Credit Union. “TCU is proud to financially support these extraordinary young men and women in their educational pursuits and believes these students will go on to make a genuine difference in our communities.”

The selected scholars will be studying a range of subjects this fall such as psychology, nursing, astrophysical sciences, molecular cell biology, film and music, and economics. These first-year students will be attending UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, UC Los Angeles, Princeton University, Cal Poly, San Jose State, and other colleges.
