Hello, Members. I want to share an important upcoming change at Travis Credit Union, one that allows us to celebrate the past, and be excited about the future! After 22 years of service with TCU, serving the last seven as President and CEO, I would like to share with you my intention to retire on April 15, 2022, so I can devote more time to my family.
I was privileged to join the TCU family in January 2000, meeting incredible people along the way – wonderful members, amazing mentors, and of course, meaningful work helping people to achieve their financial goals.
As I close my chapter with Travis Credit Union, I am proud that we are a healthy, high-performing credit union. We will continue building on our Awesome Cause of financial wellness to change the lives of our members and the communities we serve.
It is a great feeling to see how far we have come:
- Transformed and reopened the Atwater, Dixon, Veranda and Benicia branches. Opened a brand-new branch in Pleasant Hill
- Grew to $4.5 billion in assets
- Expanded our membership to 217,000 people
- Became the 12th largest credit union in California
- Established the Travis Credit Union Foundation. The Foundation represents the heart of the credit union and is a significant addition to our goal of sustaining financial wellness for those we serve.
- Recognized by Forbes as a Top 10 California credit union in 2020 and 2021
- Ranked 35th on the Bay Area Corporate Philanthropists List
- Received the U.S. Air Force Distinguished Council Credit Union of the Year – twice in the past three years
- TCU and the TCU Foundation helped more than 645,000 people through corporate giving in response to the COVID‑19 pandemic
- Engaged in DEI initiatives to support a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce
- Earned national recognition for our educational efforts with the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award
And these only account for a fraction of the awards and recognition that reinforce our commitment to our members and the communities we serve.
Over the next six months, our Board of Directors and I will be communicating about the process to select Travis Credit Union’s next Chief Executive Officer. I will share more updates with you as they become available.
Wishing you the best,
Barry Nelson
