Travis Credit Union Joins the Humanitarian Relief Efforts for Ukraine

March 14, 2022

Vacaville, CA – Travis Credit Union (TCU) joins the fundraising efforts of the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WFCU) in support of Ukrainian credit unions and pledges to donate fifteen thousand dollars to the Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund campaign. The Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund campaign aims to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn residents as well as the two million refugees who have fled the country.

WFCU will donate more than half of the funds raised during the first weeks of the campaign to approved non-governmental organizations (NGOs) providing emergency humanitarian aid in Ukraine and bordering European countries supporting Ukrainian refugees. Along with continued fundraising, the remaining funds will go toward longer-term credit union recovery efforts to support rebuilding the local economy and infrastructure.

Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WFCU), in partnership with the World Council (WOCCU), is leveraging our global network to identify the immediate priority areas where funding can be used to support displaced credit union members and staff.

“I'm proud of the way credit unions are joining forces, supporting global events, and seeing local communities come together to lend a helping hand. I am honored to witness how our organization continues to unite and build the community in the spirit of the credit union's motto of People Helping People,” said Barry Nelson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Travis Credit Union. “Moreover, we are committed to supporting non-profits and local businesses in our local counties as they provide relief in the war-torn region.”

In addition, TCU is launching an internal campaign that will provide employees with resources and information about local initiatives by small businesses and non-profits supporting Ukrainian humanitarian and crisis relief efforts.
