We're your Business Lender!

Earlier this year, in preparation for our Annual Meeting, I had the opportunity to review the history of Travis Credit Union. Since its founding in 1951, the credit union has offered consumer loans to our members. From small personal loans back then to large first mortgages and refinances today, we've offered a lending hand to generations of members.

While our focus on consumer lending remains core to our mission, we also listen to our members who are small business owners. Many seek a low-cost, high-quality lender to assist with their business needs, and they look to us to be that financial institution. With their needs in mind, we're proud to announce the promotion of Francine Boards to the new position of Vice President for Business Lending. Francine, who previously served as our commercial credit officer and who has extensive experience in business development, will oversee the strategic growth of business lending and deposit services.

Pat and I are excited about serving the small business community with the same level of service and outstanding loan products we've offered our personal account holders for six decades. We have already helped many local business owners with startup, expansion and renovation loans that have helped increase their visibility. You can read more about Francine and her priorities in this issue of Smart Money Matters.

Members matter most
"Members Matter Most" is the theme of International Credit Union Day, which will be celebrated worldwide on Thursday, Oct. 18. This annual event recognizes the credit union movement and its impact on the more than 196 million members in 100 countries. I know our employees are proud to be part of a financial cooperative whose values remain deeply rooted in the philosophy of "People Helping People."

Also in this issue, we take a look at the upcoming relocation of our Clayton Branch in Contra Costa County. We're excited about moving into a more convenient and accessible location, with lots of parking and easy access to anchor businesses. The new branch is just across the street from its current location in the Clayton Station Shopping Center.

Finally, later this month we'll launch our new Web site. We think you'll enjoy the improvements. The new site is less cluttered, quicker to navigate and offers greater interactivity and security.

Board elections notice
The credit union will be holding its board elections next April. If you're a member and have an interest in serving on our volunteer board or committees, please click here to learn about the election process and candidate qualifications. Our volunteer board and Supervisory Committee members are all TCU members who share a common goal of actively ensuring your credit union remains financially strong for years to come.

Thank you for your support
On behalf of our TCU volunteers and staff, Pat and I would like to thank you for the support you've given us over the years. We strive to continually improve while we remain ever vigilant about the financial trust you've placed in us.
