When financial aid isn't enough
student loans can help
If you're heading off to college this fall and your financial aid package doesn't cover the entire cost of your higher education, you now have an alternative to borrowing from the big banks or other private lenders–Travis Credit Union has partnered with cuScholar Private Student Loan Program.
How much can I borrow?
This program allows our members to finance their college education while receiving some of the lowest rates and best borrowing benefits around. As part of this nationwide CU Student Loans program, students may borrow as little as $2,000 or up to the cost of attendance per year, with a maximum of $120,000 in undergraduate loans or $160,000 in graduate loans. The funds may be used for any qualified educational expense, including past-due tuition bills.
The cuScholar Private Student Loans program has no origination fee. Borrowers will receive competitive interest rates that may be even lower for students who receive good grades.
Other benefits include a 1% interest rate reduction once 10% of the loan principal is repaid during the full repayment period. There is also an option that allows co-signers to release their obligation to the loan after the primary borrower has made 24 consecutive on-time payments. And you can cancel the loan within 30 days of disbursement without fees or interest with our 30-day, no-fee return policy.
To qualify for this program, you must meet the following requirements:
Student Loan Consolidation
- The borrower must be enrolled in an eligible school and pursuing a degree program.
- The borrower must be a member or join the credit union during the online application process.
- The borrower and cosigner must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
If you've already graduated from college and want to consolidate all of your student loans, consider the cuGrad Private Student Loan Consolidation. You can refinance and consolidate from $7,500 to $125,000 in undergraduate private student loan debt (or $175,000 in graduate school debt).
