NCUA: Your deposits are federally insured up to $250,000

Did you know that funds in your Travis Credit Union share deposit accounts are federally insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) per individual depositor? This insurance is similar to the insurance on deposit accounts at banks provided by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC).

The NCUA administers the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), which was created in 1970 to insure member's deposits. In 2010, share insurance was permanently set at $250,000. The NCUSIF is backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government.

This fund was created by and continues to be paid for entirely by credit unions. No federal tax dollars have ever been placed in the fund, and no member has ever lost money insured by the NCUSIF. For more information, you may visit NCUA's website.
